November is National Adoption Month

If you are like me, you will be surprised to learn that November is National Adoption Month. I had no idea so I did some reading- in 1984 President Reagan announced the first National Adoption Week, and this was expanded by President Clinton in 1995 to become a whole month.

This month is aimed at sharing positive adoption stories, challenging the myths, and drawing attention to the thousands of children in foster care. The goal is to spread the word and get people talking. Did you know that over 100,000 children across America are in foster care waiting to find permanent, loving families?

National Adoption Day is celebrated on the Saturday before every Thanksgiving, so this year it falls on November 17th, 2012. I know everyone is busy rushing around in preparation for a big meal with their loved ones, but please take the time to think about the children who are looking for that forever family, and how you can become that family for them.

Do you have an adoption story to share? We’d love to hear from you!

I am a birth mother of 11 years, and THANK YOU for spreading awareness! If you need anything, i’d love to be a help!
Adoption is hard, and amazing, and wonderful, and crummy in so many ways. But I would have chosen nothing else to give LIFE and LOVE and EVERYTHING to my little man!!!
