Product Review: Regalo My Cot Portable Travel Bed

Sharing is caring!

My family recently spent a fabulous weekend in San Diego. In the weeks leading up to our trip, my husband and I were seriously concerned about where our 3-year-old twin boys would sleep during our resort stay. Though the boys are no strangers to hotel rooms, we finally decided they could no longer squeeze into their pack ‘n plays at night. But because they are very physical sleepers, we were afraid they’d roll right off the hotel bed, even if we did buy inflatable bed rails or lined it with pillows. We also didn’t want them kicking each other—or us—all night long.

Luckily, we found the perfect solution—the Regalo My Cot Portable Travel Bed. Retailing for only $25 to $35, this cot offers a comfortable and inexpensive sleep environment for traveling toddlers and preschoolers. It is also very easy to transport and set up!

The My Cot weighs only four pounds and folds up compactly into a fabric carry bag. When we received the cots, we set them up in seconds by simply unfolding them. We probably should have waited until the boys were asleep, though: They  got so excited that they immediately climbed into the cots and cried when we made them get off. Then, every single night—for the entire month until our trip—they asked to sleep in their cots. They just couldn’t wait!

The My Cot has a sturdy, all-steel frame. The liner is made from a sturdy canvas material with reinforced stitching for added durability. The cot comes with a cotton fitted sheet that fits snugly over the frame and is machine washable.

Because the cot sits seven inches off the floor, we were concerned about the boys rolling out. So when our trip finally came, we set up the cots at the foot of each queen bed so that only one side was open to the floor. We placed pillows on the floor on the open side of the cots. But because the cot dips slightly in the center, it is very difficult for children to fall out. In the two nights we were there, only one of the boys rolled out once, and he didn’t even wake up! Both boys slept straight through the night on their little cots with a pillow and a blanket. (Oh, what it would be like to “sleep like a baby!”) Since we’ve been home, the boys are back to asking for their cots. It is just such an adventure for them to sleep in them.

Is there a difference in the deluxe and regular regalo cot besides price? And is the deluxe worth it? Thank you!
