Must Have Hair Products And Styling Tips

Sharing is caring!

When I was in high school, I once used that horrible stuff called Sun In that turned my hair a lovely shade of light orange. I also went through a bleach-gone-wrong stage and a few other hair tragedies. Let’s just say that I learned my lesson.

I now take very, very good care of my hair, get every color or bleach job done in a professional salon, and have learned to wash it as little as possible to maintain its health. With us mommies having little time to ourselves to take care of our hair, I’m sharing some hair products you will love, as well as some tips on how to style andprotect your precious hair!

powder puff

Kevin Murphy Powder Puff- $34.88 This stuff gives instant texture, lifts the roots, and is great for next day, dirty hair.

dry shampoo

Dry Shampoo- $10 Everyone needs dry shampoo in their life. When you don’t have time for a shower, put some dry shampoo on and you’re good to go! Not only does it instantly make your hair look clean, it really makes it feel clean too.

unite expanda dust

Unite Expanda Dust- $22.44 This is magic in a bottle! I sprinkle a little in different sections of my roots and it gives instant volume. You could make your hair HUGE with this stuff and it lasts for days!

beach beach day

Unite Beach Day Texturizing- $22.99 No beach required. Simply spray this on your hair while it’s damp and let it air dry. You will be left with fabulous beach waves that look natural and flawless, but no-one will know that it didn’t take any time or talent to create.

10 miracle treatment

Its A 10 Miracle Treatment- $19.99 This is usually $40, so this Amazon deal is a fabulous one. Leave this on your hair for about an hour and it will instantly become softer and sleeker. Instant results are the best results!

Tips

-Wash your hair as little as possible. I don’t mean skip your showers and smell stinky all week long, just cut back on washing your hair altogether. Every stylist I’ve ever talked to has always told me this. I used to wash my hair every single day and I can’t even tell you the drastic difference and improvement I saw when I cut back on that. It’s good for your hair to have some natural oils in it for awhile. Constantly washing and shampooing your hair really dries it out. There’s even more reason to wash it less if you bleach it because bleach already completely dries it out. Train your hair. Start by washing it every other day and then see how often you can push it back from there. This is also where dry shampoo comes in handy. Use it on the days you don’t wash for an instant refresher.

-Use little heat products. If you can, skip blow drying your hair and air dry instead. Use minimal heat styling products like curling irons and straighteners too. Natural is in right now, so rock it!

-Don’t be afraid to experiment. Grow your hair out, cut it in a pixie, learn and embrace the fact that hair grows and that change is good! Style your hair in different ways and have fun with it.

-Hats and bobby pins are your best friend when you’re growing out a short cut. I’m pretty daring and have been known to grow my hair out and then chop it all off. Case in point- I had hair almost down to my hips when I got married and shortly after my son was born two years later, I chopped it in a pixie cut. I like change. When you’re growing out a short hair cut, wear lots of hats and pin back awkward parts to make the grow-out stage a little easier.

-Experiment to see what styles work best for you. Some people look better with long hair, others rock short cuts. Some styles look good on some and horrid on others. Be willing to experiment to see what styles work for your face shape and personality!

-The less you do, the better it looks. My hair stylist once told me this and I think it rings so true. You know those days when you roll out of bed and your hair just naturally falls into place? I know it doesn’t happen all that often but it’s so great when it does! The less products, hair spray, and styling you have to do to your hair, the better! Natural, effortless hair is all the rage right now and that’s great for us moms who don’t have all the time in the world to get ready for the ball each morning!
