Great Wolf Lodge Travel Review

Sharing is caring!

Last month we visited the Great Wolf Lodge in Concord, NC (just outside Charlotte!) to celebrate two birthdays. Yep, my two older kids’ birthdays are 10 days apart.

Great Wolf Lodge

Birthday parties. As a parent, you either love them or hate them.

We weren’t up to inviting a ton of kids to our house or renting out the local bouncy house place this year, but we still wanted to make the birthdays special.

With my 8 year old insisting that he HAD to have a party, I had to think on my feet. What would be better to an 8 year old than a 2-hour party with a bunch of his friends? That is a big task, right?!? Just two weeks before his birthday as he is making his own birthday invitations with loose leaf paper and markers, I thought we were doomed. I didn’t think there was any way to avoid the party hoopla this year. I know, I know…”Mom of the Year” trying to avoid the birthday party craziness, right?

The next day it came to me. GREAT WOLF LODGE! My kids love visiting Wisconsin Dells each year with their grandparents, and we’ve stayed at all kinds of resorts there, but we’ve never stayed at Great Wolf Lodge. My kids have always asked to stay there and it just wasn’t in the cards for previous trips.

But when we moved to North Carolina last summer, I knew that there was a Great Wolf Lodge in the area. Perfect. Hopefully an indoor waterpark resort could be better than a birthday party!! When the kids came home from school that day, I crossed my fingers, and presented the idea to them.

“Instead of a party this year, buddy, we could do a special birthday trip to GREAT WOLF LODGE!! What do you say?!”

*holding my breath*

“Really?!?” he exclaimed with a big smile on his face.

Yep!

“Wooohoooo!!  Yes! Yes! Yes! Thanks, mom!!”

*deep breath*

See, what did I tell you? Best. Mom. Ever.

We headed to Great Wolf Lodge for a couple days to stay in the Wolf Den Suite and had the best time. While I’m not a huge indoor waterpark fan (because I like fresh air, but there isn’t much you can do in the winter!) but we go because my kids LOVE it. The sacrifices we make for kids! 🙂

The kids didn’t want to go without making a video to bring you along, so watch how the birthday trip went in today’s Baby Gizmo video! They did such a great job in the video that it’s totally worth watching whether you are thinking of going to a Great Wolf Lodge (there are many locations!) or not. Hey, maybe they will convince you (or your kids!) to plan a trip even if you weren’t planning to.
