The Baby Bjorn active carrier is a great front pack that allows parents the freedom from bulky cumbersome strollers. Whether you are fighting your way down crowed streets or just out for brisk stroll the carrier is great. Perhaps most importantly, the carrier is a lifesaver for parents with fussy babies. The Baby Bjorn is easy to use and easy to adjust as your child grows. With clips and snaps that are color coordinated putting your child into the carrier is foolproof. The carrier retails for approximately $120.00. It is available in several colors including black and red, black and silver, green, blue, and navy. The carrier is designed to carry infants who are at least 8lbs and 21 inches long. The maximum recommended weight limit is 26lbs. The carrier allows you to hold you to hold your child in two carrying positions- facing you or facing the world. However, it is recommended that all infants should be carried facing you until they have developed the neck support necessary to hold their heads up. When facing you the carrier has a great neck support for the child. The Baby Bjorn active carrier uses increased support for both your back and shoulders. The shoulder strap and wide backing dedicated to lumbar support allows for the child’s weight to be distributed evenly across your back and shoulders. I’ve always been a skeptic when companies promise comfort in carriers, however, after carrying my 17lb child for three hours I have become a believer. The carrier lists 26lbs as their upper limit for use. I would not however plan on carrying a child for an extended period of time in these upper limits as we feel that strain would be applied to your back. In our opinion the best feature of the Baby Bjorn active carrier is that it allows you to lull your child to sleep and then has the ability to detached completely so your child can be removed and laid down without waking. This feature proved to be a lifesaver with our colicky child. The makers of the Baby Bjorn active carrier boast a unique design that allows breast-feeding without removing the baby. After investigating this I was a little afraid to try it. In fact it looked cumbersome. It appears that in the same time that you prepare yourself and child for this task, you could have already removed a blanket from your diaper bag and been half way finished. The Baby Bjorn Active carrier is 65% cotton and 35% polyester. It is machine washable. Although ours has faded over time (ours is black), the shape and padding have stayed perfect. The Baby Bjorn active carrier is the best choice for parents who are looking for an easy, stylish, and comfortable way to maintain an active life style.
