Full Review: see below   Lowest Price:  $   (from 0 sellers) Full Review: The Baby Einstein Discover & Play Activity Gym is a great toy for infants from birth to around the time they begin crawling. It comes with many different toys that provide hours of entertainment for babies, and well-deserved breaks for care givers. The best toy is the music and lights star. It is a yellow star with primary colored lights on the tips that plays Bach and Beethoven. It has three modes of musical play. Infants can enjoy either a short demo or longer song when they push the smiley face in the middle. The motion-activated mode is by far the best part of this toy. With the star positioned at the top of the cross bar it will give baby a light and music show every time he kicks or bats at one of the bars. It teaches cause and effect, and encourages movement. Plus, you just might catch baby's first smile. The activity mat also comes with adorable Baby Einstein characters that are great hand toys. They are small, soft and make different interesting sounds. In addition it includes a mirror, rattle, and photo frame with a picture of a rabbit inside. The prop pillow and primary colored characters printed on the mat make it great for tummy time. All these toys are removable and interchangeable to keep baby's interest. Parents can even replace the rabbit picture with a favorite family photo. Like many activity mats there are loops on the cross bars that use rings to attach some of the toys. (The star, photo frame and mirror are attached with Velcro). The set comes with only a handful of rings. In order for very young infants to be able to reach these toys they either have to be hung from the lower loops on the sides of the cross bar or you have to purchase more rings. This was not a huge issue for us as we had other toys with similar rings that we used to make the chain longer. I also found that the rings were handy for hanging other favorite toys from this activity center. Furthermore we used them to hang toys on things like the diaper bag, stroller, and baby carrier. This activity gym sells for around $50. Its a little pricey, but is competitively priced with other activity gyms that include similar amounts of toys. The motion activated musical star is worth the extra money. The activity mat is machine washable, and durable. Although after many many washes ours did begin to fade a tiny bit. However, all the toys and the cross bars still look like new, and they have been dearly loved, knocked around, and chewed on.
