Best: Long-Life Rechargeable Battery, Great Range, Great Sound Clarity Worst: Static During Set-up Full Review: see below   Lowest Price:  $52.99   (from 1 sellers) Full Review: The Fisher Price Private Connection Monitor offers a powerful 900MHz signal and 10 channels to virtually eliminate the chance of interference, making it, in our mind, the best baby monitor on the market. Add to the mix a reasonable price, rechargeable battery system and the choice of 1 or 2 parent handsets, and we have a clear winner! The Private Connection Monitor comes with one nursery unit and 1 or 2 parent receiver handsets. We think the extra $15 is well worth having two parent handsets, not just because we want Dad to play along at this parenting thing too, but because you can have one set plugged in and charging while using the other, so you’re never left with a dead battery. The parent receiver is nice and compact with an antenna that isn’t too long to be practical. It has an LCD display screen that graphically displays battery charge and signal strength. The screen is easy to read in a lighted room but sadly does not illuminate in the dark. You can always see the 5 LED lights on the front of the receiver thought that indicate sound silently. We only wish that Fisher Price would add a vibration feature for when we were in a noisy environment (lawnmower, anyone?). The parent receiver works on an included rechargeable battery that, we are happy to report has a long, long life. The fully-charged battery lasted over 12 hours in our tests, more than triple the competition! Now, what everyone wants to know: does it work? Yes! And then some! First of all, this monitor has great range. Fisher Price claims that it has a range of up to 800 ft. We would agree and say that it’s actually more. We were able to make it to our neighbor’s four houses down before we lost signal. When you are out of range, the receiver will start to get static, and then will go completely silent. We much prefer this to the ear-splitting out-of-range sirens on some of the other monitors. When we first hooked up the monitor, we did get a bit of static while the set sorted itself out. For the first few hours of use, the receiver would have static when our A/C turned on or the clothes dryer was running. We also had slight static when we moved around the room. When we took the receiver outside to test it, we seemed to eliminate the static. After that initial set-up, the static seemed to work itself out and went away completely. Every once in a while, you will hear brief static when moving the receiver but not enough to be bother us or baby. Once the static issues were solved, the reception and sound quality were spectacular! The Fisher Price Private Connection Monitor is also very durable, as we have drop, kicked and otherwise roughed it up to no ill effect. Overall, with a choice of two parent receivers, great rechargeable battery life, a very long range, clear reception and a great price, this baby monitor is our hands-down favorite!
