The Fisher Price Baby Papasan Cradle Swing is modeled after the widely popular Baby Papasan Infant Seat (one of our favorites). The swing features two swing directions, cradle (side to side) and traditional back and forth, that can be easily changed with a push of a button and turn of the seat. The option of swing direction can be a lifesaver since many babies may be calmed by the side-to-side motion rather than front to back. The motor is very quiet for a swing but you still hear it although it’s not bothersome. The seat is super soft, wide and comfy and comes with a soft infant headrest. (The headrest is not removable though) A 3-point harness keeps your baby in place and works well with this swing even though we normally would like to see a 5-point harness. There are two recline positions but you will find your baby doesn’t sit as upright as some other swings. The colors are thankfully muted so that we don’t have another cartoony item in our living room. The fabric is detachable for easy washing. There is a cute mobile complete with a large mirror above baby’s head. We have found this mobile to be only seen when the baby is in the fully-reclined position. The mirror is large and a big hit with all our baby testers. The mobile has 3 rotating characters (a bird, a butterfly, and a dragonfly) that rotate with green leaves. The characters face outward but would be better seen by baby if they actually faced down toward the baby since she is the one watching it. The music is calming and has 8 songs and a selection of nature sounds. The best part of the music is the volume control! One possibly aggravating feature though is that the mobile and music automatically turn off after 7 minutes. We would like the parents to make the decision on how long the music plays even if that means that mom might wear down the batteries. The swing comes with a removable toy tray that has a few simple toys attached. We found that we kept the tray off entirely the first few months since it’s easier to put baby in and out and she isn’t interested in a tray at the beginning anyway. Overall, the price makes it one of the most expensive swings but worth it if a nice looking swing with muted colors, two directional swing option, a large, comfy seat with a very popular mirrored mobile is what you are looking for.
