Ever wished you could help your child get to know family that lived far away? Well with Goosie Cards you can!!! Goosie Cards is the first business of its kind. They make custom flash cards that are created using your photos and text. The process is easy. Simply sign up, upload your pictures, choose your text, and order. You can upload up to ten photographs at a time, and it takes two to three minutes with a high-speed connection. Since the flash cards are created using you photographs and chosen text the learning opportunities are only limited to your imagination. If you need extra pictures or ideas Goosie Cards offers a free photo gallery that you can use. If you don’t want to make your own cards you can buy their “stock sets”. Choices include ABCs, 123s, Favorite Foods, Head to Toe, and Colors & Shapes just to name a few. The cards themselves are large and easy for developing eyes to see (4 ¼ x 7 ½). All the pictures are beautifully done in full color with black Century Gothic text in bold 28pt font. Although you cannot change the text color or size there is room for lots of text. Each card can hold up to five lines of 13 characters. The cards are covered with a durable, non-toxic laminate. Although the cards are sturdy, and simple to wipe clean they can be bent and chewed up relatively easily. Like most flash cards these can stand up to older toddlers or preschoolers, but I would not let a younger toddler or baby play with them unsupervised. Also, they come in a lightweight cardboard envelope that is very cute, but probably won’t last long. One great thing about Goosie Cards is you can purchase gift certificates for friends and family. These can be purchased in sets of 10, 20 or 26. They range in price from $34 to $52. The Goosie Cards are somewhat expensive, but these prices do include shipping. Compared to the cost of regular flash cards these may seem down right outrages. However, considering that these cards allow you to teach your child about the people, places, and things that hold particular meaning to your family they might be well worth the extra money.
