It is constructed with an EPS energy absorbing foam liner for maximum safety. In crash tests this booster seat preformed at a level that is roughly twice that of national standards. The headrest and padded armrests are easily adjustable to insure proper fit. The open-loop belt guide makes using it a breeze. Simple assembly and instillation will reduce the risk of injury due to improper use. Parents may like this booster seat for the safety rating, but the safest seat in the world is only good if your child will sit in it. Preschoolers love this booster seat because it is so comfortable. Some models come with triple the amount of EPS foam for added comfort and safety. The deep side-wings on the headrest aid in protecting and comforting sleepy heads. The armrests are padded and height adjustable, but they don't swing up. This can make it difficult for preschoolers to climb in and out in a cramped back seat. Additionally, there are two hidden cup holders that swing out when needed. The cup holders are big enough for most cups, but are a little shallow. Full water bottles tend to tip out easily. One small issue relating to comfort is the recline feature. It sounds nice, but it is not really practical unless you are using it with a reclining seat. To be properly installed the back of the booster seat must be completely against the vehicle's seat. In addition to comfort this booster comes in many fabrics (some reversible) for both boys and girls. Little ones are sure to find something they like. The upholstery is machine washable, but hang dry. The type of upholstery you choose will have an impact on the price. Most High Back Turbo Boosters are reasonably priced at around $50, but some special edition fabrics can cost as much as $120. Some models come with a neck pillow for an additional $10. Not all stores sell all fabrics so shop around if you don't initially find one you like. Or buy directly from the Graco website. Also, be mindful of the climate in your area. Our booster seat gets pretty hot in the summer sun. The Turbo Booster Seat easily converts from a high back to a small booster seat for older children. This gives them the proper seat belt positioning they need without feeling like they are sitting in a babyish car seat. However, this feature makes it awkward to carry if you frequently move it between several vehicles. The back detaches making it necessary to use both hands to carry it. Graco recommends that the high back be used with children ages 3-10 years old that are between 38 and 57 inches tall, and weigh 30-100 pounds. Without the back it can be use by kids who are 4-10 years old who are between 40 and 57 inches tall, and weigh 40-100 pounds. This booster seat will work for your child until they are tall enough to be properly positioned in an adult size seat belt.
