Known for their fabulous quality, Inglesina kept up their high standards when designing this funky and modern looking high chair. The Zuma has some great options for moms looking for a unique high chair for their modern kitchens. The first thing we noticed about the Zuma was the solid construction, clean sleek lines, and modern feel. Since meal time is usually messy (at least with our babies), Inglesina kept mom in mind when designing it. It has a curved seat that makes clean up a breeze because there are no deep corners for food to hide in. There are also two removable and washable double seat pads for easy cleaning. Included are two removable tray inserts that are dishwasher safe and can easily fit in every single dishwasher we tried. The insert doesn't snap in but lays in a recessed part of the top of the tray. Even though the insert becomes flush with the tray, if your child figures out that they can easily lift the insert out by lifting on either side, you may have that lightweight insert thrown on the floor or worse at you during mealtime. So, be careful and try not to show your baby how that insert is removed. It is clear that Inglesina had safety in mind with the Zuma. With a 5-point harness and a permanent t-bar (or crotch bar) that is part of the seat, we always feel like our little one is secure and safe in this high chair. We love that the seat has three recline positions that allow our toddlers to eat on their tray and then recline with their bottle or to take a quick snooze all in one place. There are 8 height positions that are very easy to adjust with the simple push of two side buttons to slide the chair to the perfect position to bring your baby to the table with the family. We also love to adjust the height position (we lower it as far as it will go) for our young toddlers who like to crawl into their chair on their own. The tray isn't our favorite part of this chair. The tray has a solid construction but therefore makes it on the heavy side. It also is a two-handed tray which can be cumbersome at times trying to put it on and take it off. Also, note that since it's a two-handed tray, it makes it impossible to remove the tray while holding your squirming baby. A nice feature that the Zuma has to make up for the two-handed tray is that the tray can be pulled away from the seat about 2 inches (with a lever in front) to allow you to slide your baby in the seat without removing it. Another major thing we noticed about the tray is that it sits too far away from the baby. Even with a larger baby in the chair (15 months and 26 lbs), there was still a huge space between the tray and baby that begged most of the food to end up on our little tester's lap during mealtime. Good thing the chair is easy to clean because most of the meal ended up in the seat and on our baby's lap because of the large gap. We love the sturdiness of the Zuma. The base of the chair is designed so that it is very sturdy with no chance of tipping. Even though the long feet of the chair give it quite a big footprint in your kitchen, moms who like to save room when the high chair isn't in use will appreciate that the feet do fold up to make it compact for storage. Another feature we really like on the Zuma is the wheels that make moving this high chair around a breeze. As we always like to warn moms (as we seem to keep making this same mistake), be careful when moving or rolling any high chair on wood floors because all plastic wheels on any high chair have the tendency to scratch your beautiful wood floors. The Zuma is available in Aqua Blue, Graphite Gray, Orange or Red and retails for an expensive $299. Even though the Zuma could be improved in the tray area, this sturdy, well-made high chair has some great features for your modern kitchen.
