Full Review: see below   Lowest Price:  $34.95   (from 1 sellers) Full Review: The best toddler educational series on the market, Little Laureate's second release takes children on a multi-cultural trip around the globe. They visit every continent (except Antarctica, but we'll give them a break since there isn't any art there) learning about geography, climate, famous landmarks and native animals. The DVD uses Little Laureate's trademark blend of art animated in time to music, along with live action segments featuring children and vignettes starring Star, the friendly animated host. Star is joined by friends Luna the moon and Sol the sun on this adventure, as well as Earth, who patiently models lessons on the equator, Mount Everest and even the weather. The soundtrack includes beautiful classical pieces as well as world music. The drums and chants in the Africa section get me and my kids up off the couch dancing like crazy every time. Thankfully, the film calms everyone down at the end, closing with a soothing Chinese lullaby. The series aims to teach children about the world beyond their backyard, and it's an invaluable tool for any modern parent. Since being introduced to the Little Laureate series, my own children now ask if we can take a trip to Africa and are quick to identify international landmarks like the Louvre and the Great Wall of China. The DVD goes beyond just featuring the obvious like Big Ben and Van Gogh, including true global wonders like 2000-year old artwork from ancient Syrian fables and pieces by living aboriginal artists. The Little Laureate series is the most beautifully produced toddler series on the market. The high quality presentation is both a joy for parents to watch as well, and a relief, since many of the so-called 'baby videos' look like they were filmed in someone's garage. Perhaps the best part of 'For the Love of World Travel,' is the introduction of four foreign languages. Children learn to say 'I love you' in Spanish, French and Italian (very impressive when Grandma comes over!) and learn the Japanese character for 'love.' We love the Little Laureate series and can't wait to see what they produce next.
