Full Review: The stroller companies are sitting up and taking notice of the popularity of the 'luxury' strollers that offer the style and pizzazz that moms long for. Maxi Cosi is no exception and wanted to get in on the luxury stroller craze with their own version: the Maxi Cosi Foray. It is a great alternative to moms that simply cannot afford the sky high prices of the designer strollers but still want features and style at a fraction of the cost.

The first thing we noticed was the resemblance to its higher priced stroller sisters. It has a stroller seat that sits higher than your average stroller that is reversible so that your child can face you or out at the world. Reversing the seat is easy to do by pressing two large buttons on either side of the seat and lifting the seat up and then reattaching it to the frame in the opposite direction.

The seat is roomy and accommodated even our tall 3 year old tester comfortably. It has an easy to do padded, 5 point harness that is adjustable for your growing child. Like other strollers similar to this style, the entire seat reclines (3 positions) keeping its wide v-shape. There is a large canopy that gives you the option to extend it even further by unzipping the back of it. The canopy has a large window for peeking and two side windows for baby to look out. Included is even a great rain cover that zips to the front of the canopy to protect your baby from the elements. There is a padded baby bar that is removable on both sides to make getting baby in and out easier.

The Foray has an adjustable handlebar with 4 positions that is great for giving moms and dads of different heights a comfortable push and preventing taller parents from kicking the frame of the stroller. An interesting storage basket that is accessible from either the front (you unzip it) or the back can hold a small to medium size diaper bag or quite a few baby essentials.

There are two 12 inch air-filled rear tires and two 7 inch tires in front with a great suspension system that provide your little rider with a smooth, comfortable ride. The maneuverability is amazing allowing it to glide along the road and is effortless to turn with one hand. We love the one-step braking system that allows you to securely lock and unlock the stroller by stepping on one large button. This eliminates scuffing your shoes and is brilliant when you are wearing flip flops or open toe shoes.

Even though it's a European company, they listened to our pleas for a cup holder. The Foray has a large removable cup holder on the handlebar for mom that flips out of the way when folding the stroller.

The Foray can also be a travel system with the addition of the Maxi Cosi Mico infant car seat. (Note: This stroller cannot be used with any other infant car seat.) We found that the car seat easily clips to the frame of the stroller onto the same connectors that you use to attach the seat. This makes for a very sharp, sturdy and lightweight travel system since the frame of the stroller is only 16 lbs. When taking the car seat off the stroller frame, you have to unclip each side with easy to push buttons on the car seat. Some moms found this cumbersome since you have to use two hands to unlock the car seat but are left with no hands to pick the seat up. We found that you can hold the handle of the car seat with one hand and unlock each side lock separately with the other.

So far, we love everything about the Foray. The only feature that we aren't super crazy about is the fold and unfold. First, to unfold the stroller, you have to remove the seat. Other strollers have this feature as well (even Bugaboo) and by storing the seat on top of the frame in your trunk could actually make it more compact, but we still find it bothersome at times. This feature alone doesn't make the Foray a good traveling stroller. For times when folding the stroller quickly is important, such as on a bus or getting on an airplane, removing the seat and having to hold or store them separately can be cumbersome. Once the seat is removed, the folding process takes a bit to get used to. It is a four step (definitely two handed) process. The good thing is that all the steps are clearly marked with a 1-4 on the stroller and once you get used to the process, it's a no-brainer. The frame is pretty compact and we had no problem fitting it and the stroller seat into a small sedan trunk.

Unfolding the stroller is rather easy. It is also definitely a two handed process and unlocking the automatic lock can be tricky but once it's unlocked, you can have the stroller open in a few seconds flat.

The Foray is available in one appealing, very gender neutral color pattern: Tan Tech. The stroller looks beautiful brand new and we love the orange accents but we did find that the light beige material has the tendency to show dirt easily. The Foray retails for a very reasonable $299 which prices it way below many of the luxury strollers with many of the same features. (Note: The Foray does not have a bassinet option though as found on many luxury stroller systems.) After getting used to the fold and unfold process, we love the Foray for it's neutral appeal, travel system capabilities, adjustable handle, roomy seat with large canopy and amazing maneuverability.
