The beautiful patterns and fabrics makes these bags a must have for chic mamas. The Petunia Pickle Bottom Shoulder Bag is not only large, but functional as well. With 12 pockets, including 4 bottle pockets, a handy cell phone pocket in the strap, a removable dirty diaper pouch, an outside zipper pocket and a few other organizational pockets, there is space for everything. We were easily able to fit all our baby traveling necessities in this designer bag. The fabric is blissfully girly with many beautiful patterns that might not be your husband’s choice, but the bag is to make you stand out, not him. The fabric is also very designer-looking. In fact, we try our best not to abuse this diaper bag for fear of dirtying or scuffing it. If we need to shove a diaper bag in our stroller basket, this is not the one we use. If we need to bring baby to a luncheon, you can bet this will be on our shoulder. A brilliant feature in the shoulder bag is the light-colored interior fabric. Black fabric can turn your diaper bag into a black hole. Petunia Pickle Bottom’s lighter inside fabrics makes finding things in the bottom of the bag easy and quick – we actually wish all diapers bags had this feature. The shoulder strap is wide and stays put on your shoulder, a must in our book! Our only complaint is that the strap does not adjust for the differing heights of women. One of the signature features on Petunia Pickle Bottom bags is a zip-out changing station with detachable changing pad. Our mom testers were split down the middle on this feature – some absolutely loved it and found it to be a genius design feature, while others didn’t care for it. It’s completely personal preference. The moms that raved about it did so because they found it to be super convenient since it keeps your changing pad neat, compact and is easy to access. Other moms found it challenging to fit their babies on the changing pad when it was still attached to the bag. You can unvelcro it to be completely detached, but a few of our mom testers found this to be a hassle. Be careful though, when using the changing pad still attached on a high changing surface, as an overloaded diaper bag placed too close to the edge could tip. Surprisingly, the changing pad is made out of the same luxurious fabric as the interior. Nice for little bums, bad for errant messes. The attached changing pad does also mean you run the risk of little boys christening the entire bag when you are changing them. We found covering the changing pad with a disposable one helped avoid this. The bag also comes with its own plastic wipes case that can be stored with the changing pad, a nice touch ensuring we never forget our wipes (which happens more than we’d like to admit). The Petunia Pickle Bottom Shoulder Bag is well-made, roomy and a pleasure to carry. Its greatest asset and liability is its beautiful fabric. It’s so pretty, we’re actually afraid to mess it up. If you like beautiful things and want a bag that makes a chic statement, this is the bag for you.
