Surfaces are hard at best and filthy at worst. Sadly, the changing pad that came with our diaper bag is pitifully small and forces us to choose between setting baby's head or his bum on the dirty counter. We end up laying down a paper towel mosaic and try to change at lightening speed before baby catches a paper towel in his wandering fist and shoves it in his mouth. Enter the Plush Pad, also known as 'the answer to our prayers.' A separate-purchase diaper changing pad that is not only gigantic, but also surprisingly plush. The Plush Pad is an extremely soft and luxurious changing pad that is great for on the go. Available in 6 different, fashionable patterns, there is one for every taste (Retro-Daisy is our favorite). The Plush Pad even comes with body contouring memory foam to cushion baby; in fact, it's the only changing pad to do so. It rolls up easily and stays closed with two elastic loops. We really like how cushiony the pad is, keeping baby comfortable, and with its generous 2-foot by 2-foot size, baby has a large, clean, sanitary surface. The shape of the pad is consistent with most public changing facilities. It is great for newborns but we would have liked to see a longer pad for our older babies. It rolls up to the dimensions of 3 inches by 10 inches (cylinder shaped - about the size of 2 Diet Coke cans stacked on top of each other) and can easily fit into a medium- to large-sized diaper bag. This changing pad is great for traveling, quick errands, leaving in the car, hotel stays, or just using around the house. We like to leave ours in the basket of our stroller when we can't spare the real estate in our diaper bags and we always have our strollers with us. It's machine washable and water repellent, which is great for those diaper-changing mishaps. Retailing for $47, it's a bit expensive for a diaper changing pad, but if you hate struggling with public changers, it's probably worth the investment.
