|  | | Full Review: Baby Blankets. We all have them. Many, many of them. We have ones that are small, large, hand-knit, store bought, soft, cute, scratchy and not. A favorite gift of baby shower attendees, we thought we had all the possible blankets a mom could have. We were wrong. We didn't even know it, but we were missing the best blanket of all: the Silly Billyz Play Blanket.
What makes the Silly Billyz blanket different and better than the stacks of blankets in our little one's closet? Two words: it's waterproof! Yes, we have outdoor playmats, but they're scratchy and mean to baby's sensitive skin. Certainly not soft enough to earn the title 'blanket.' But the Silly Billyz gives the best of both worlds: the indoor/outdoor blanket has soft fleece on one side and waterproof nylon backing on the reverse. At 39 x 29.5 inches, it's a generous size, but folds compactly to fit into a diaper bag or stroller basket.
We like it so much, we've started taking it with us whenever we leave the house (and that's a high compliment considering how bogged down we are with baby gear and how unwilling we usually are to add something extra to our traveling arsenal). The Silly Billyz always provides a clean, dry, but soft spot for baby to lay, sit or sleep. It's great on grass, even the wet variety. When caught in a rainstorm, we can use the blanket with the nylon backing on the outside as a handy rain shield. We've even used this blanket as a changing pad; its large size easily covers all the public changing tables we have tried, and the nylon backing keeps the dirty germs at bay. Need the perfect blanket for the back of the SUV when you're tailgating? Need a great stroller blanket to act as a wind screen for baby's little legs? The Silly Billyz play blanket has answered all our blanket needs... and more.
It comes in 8 different colors (thankfully not just blue, pink and green), and retails for $19. The only thing we would suggest is that Silly Billyz add a couple designer patterns for the moms that prefer to make a statement with their baby's accessories.
The stacks of blankets that we have in our little one's closet are staying there because we now have a Silly Billyz blanket stored in our car, stroller basket and sometimes in our diaper bags, so that we always have one on hand.
