Since they have been making shoes for a long time, they have invested a lot of time into testing their shoes to make sure they hold up well, fit comfortably, and promote healthy foot growth. Once you experience these shoes you realize that they are well made, high quality, and well thought out. I had only purchased Robeez before I tried these shoes on my son. This is mainly because Robeez are cute and they are always available at the stores I shop at. Compared to Robeez these shoes were also cute but felt more substantial and protective of my baby's foot. This shoe is so adorable. The style of this particular shoe is actually one that my husband (since it's a boy style) would wear in an adult version. It is like an actual shoe versus just a thin cover for the foot. The outside is a soft leather upper that feels and looks like suede. Since the material feels and looks like suede, I would probably not pick this style shoe for a very hot summer day. However, it could easily work in the summer during comfortable temperatures. This particular shoe also works best with socks since there are no holes in it like a sandal. This shoe is a neutral dark brown and taupe and would work with both a dressy or casual outfit. This makes it versatile and a no brainer when you don't have time to plan out an outfit. It also has a stylish stitching in light tan on the outside of the shoe. If your child is crawling you will appreciate the leather toe guards and rubber tips to make them more durable. This feature is also good for babies jumping in a jumper. Two of the most important things to me about a shoe is: how easy is it to get on and does it stay on? When your child is crying or kicking getting a shoe on them can feel like quite the challenge. Also young kids have a funny habit of trying to pull off their shoe so they can play with it or throw it somewhere in the mall and you never see it again. The shoes are easy to put on and will definitely stay put. It opens and closes with a strong Velcro closure. The shoe opens wide to get your child's foot in easily. It was very easy to get my baby's foot into the shoe since the opening is so big. Since it has Velcro it is adjustable and this makes the shoes last longer. The back of the shoe has elastic so it can stretch and also fits your child's individual foot. It has a little tab you can pull on the back to help get the shoe on. The inside of the shoe is soft and a nice quality. There is an R and L marking on the inside of each shoe to indicate right or left foot. When pressing your finger on the inside bottom of the shoe it feels nicely padded, soft, and protective. Striderite put in tiny rubber pods on the bottom of their shoes to help with traction. It makes the shoes feel more padded on the bottom. Who knew that baby shoes could be technologically advanced? In terms of fit, I recommended going a size up for a taller baby since they are not walking yet and they grow out of shoes so fast. It's funny how we get attached to certain baby clothes and it's hard to put them away. These shoes are too cute and your baby may be out of them before you're ready for him to be. The shoes retail for $30 and for how well they are made I think that it's well worth paying this if you want a high quality shoe that will outlast your child and maybe the next one as well. I was recently checking out striderite.com and there are many cute styles. I love the baby boys prewalker 'Argo' shoe in graphite. I think I'm going to buy these for the summer!
