Full Review: We are big fans of Valco Baby. They have been making quality juvenile products in Australia for 20 years. Their quality and attention to detail always has us watching for what they are going to introduce next. Well, their newest introduction is the Valco Baby Latitude. Love the TriMode but want a lighter stroller full of features? Meet the Latitude! The Latitude is for the mom (and dad) on the go. Weighing in at 18 lbs, this falls into our lightweight-plus stroller category. Even though Valco Baby made this stroller a lightweight stroller – they didn’t skimp on the features. This three wheeled stroller has large (for a lightweight) 8 inches wheels that give it a very smooth ride. Since the tires are not air-filled it’s not going to tackle all-terrain surfaces as well as the Valco Baby TriMode but it does a good job for a lightweight-plus stroller. The maneuverability on the Latitude is good, making it very easy to push. It is definitely not a one-handed stroller though. Since many lightweight, 3-wheel strollers have a tendency to start to tip when turned quickly, and the Latitude is no exception, we recommend that you keep two hands on this stroller. We also recommend that you monitor older children closely that want to help push the stroller. Older children are unpredictable and may turn the stroller too fast, which may cause this lightweight stroller to start to tip and they may not be able to correct it. The Latitude is packed with features for both mom and baby. Since all moms and dads are not the same height, the Latitude has an adjustable handlebar that goes from 36 to 39 ½ inches. There are brakes on the rear wheels that are connected with a one touch bar that is very easy to do. The large basket underneath is roomy enough to hold at least a medium size diaper or quite a few on-the-go baby essentials. Note: With the seat fully reclined, the basket is difficult to access. The seat is roomy and will accommodate a child up to 45 lbs. It is 14 inches wide and 24 inches from seat to top of canopy. It has a secure, 5-point padded harness to keep your child safe and an adjustable footrest to keep them comfortable. The seat has an easy to do, one-hand strap recline that lays almost completely flat so it’s suitable from birth. Not only does it recline flat for a newborn, but it also can be used as a travel system. The Latitude accepts an infant car seat and comes with an adapter for a Graco or Britax. You can purchase an adapter for a Peg Perego or Maxi Cosi separately if you prefer those seats. The canopy, complete with peek-a-boo window, is sturdy and rounded to allow for more headroom for your taller children. The canopy is large and sufficiently shaded our little riders. We love that the Latitude comes with a matching boot to protect your child from the elements but remember that you have to remove the boot (or at least unsnap it) when folding the stroller. (The manual doesn’t tell you this and we had a heck of time figuring out why the stroller wouldn’t fold until we noticed that the boot was snapped on and getting in the way.) Also included is a great raincover but what is missing is our beloved cup holder. No worries though – Valco Baby sells one separately for those mamas that need one. As a lightweight stroller, you want to be able to grab and go with this stroller easily. Not to worry, the Latitude is easy to fold and unfold to keep up with your lifestyle. With a two-handed compact, flat fold, the stroller folds easily but you may have to swivel the front wheel to get it to lay down completely. With the addition of an automatic lock, we’d like the fold even better, but there is a strap lock that isn’t hard to do. (We just hate the extra step) The unfold process is so simple we hate to even call it a process. It is really just unlock the strap, pull up the handle bar until the stroller locks open. Easy enough! The Valco Baby Latitude stroller retails for $299. With its lightweight frame and tons of features from car seat compatibility to large, roomy basket, the Latitude could be your only stroller from birth through your toddler years or a great addition for your quick trips when you don’t want to grab your heavy, top of the line luxury stroller.
