This compact planner is not only beautiful but helpful for the expecting mom. Since pregnancy can be full of surprises, at 7.5' by 9', this great book can go anywhere with you to keep all the important information on hand at any time. Available in 'dressy', zebra and chocolate brown, we love that the 3 cover choices are about appealing to mom and not covered with teddy bears or some other baby cartoon graphics. A working mom will appreciate this because this planner can sit on her desk at work unnoticed, instead of a huge book that says 'My Pregnancy' that might just make her male co-workers a little uneasy. This stylish planner is housed in a three-ring binder which allows mom to personalize it to her pregnancy, taking out pages that don't apply to her or rearranging pages to her liking. We have seen so many pregnancy planners that are bound that result in blank pages because that information didn't pertain to that pregnancy. (Such as a baby shower section will probably not apply to your third pregnancy.) Once we got past the beautiful exterior, we saw that the pages were fun and there were fabulous quotes throughout the book. The colorful pages are separated into sections with colored tabs on the outside for quick access. The first section is a blank 12 month calendar to keep track of everything happening along the way of your pregnancy...doctor's appointments, how long morning sickness lasted, first kick, the last day of your normal clothes, etc. The second section is a place to keep all the important information on your obgyn/midwife, hospital, pharmacy, and insurance company. Your pregnant brain won't let you remember one bit of this information, so don't even try, just write it down and keep it with you. It includes places for names, numbers, addresses and questions. Third section is to help you pick a pediatrician (complete with questions to ask and space for the answers). Since almost all first time moms haven't chosen a pediatrician before, we found these questions incredibly helpful. If you are using this planner on your 2nd, 3rd, 4th baby, you could just remove the 'picking a pediatrician' pages. Gotta love the 3 ring binder style! Once you have picked a doctor, there is a page for all the information on their office. Fourth section is full of checklists: a newborn checklist, gift list, and a 'before baby arrives' checklist. The fifth section is all about labor and delivery complete with pages for birthing class notes, a birth plan, hospital bag checklist, call list, and a post delivery checklist. On the inside of the binder is also two pockets for holding pictures, cards, ultrasounds, etc and 6 spaces for credit cards or insurance cards. Overall, we love the Braelyn Bounty Bug Prego Planner but we would love to see a few more specific pages included to make it even better. Pages for pictures and/or ultrasounds for those moms that like to document their pregnancy through photographs would be a great addition. Also, a few pages with questions to prompt mom to write about her pregnancy, such as 'I started to show....' or 'What the nursery looks like...' or 'The first time you moved...' Many first time moms don't know what to document off the top of their head but will love to look back and see the answers to these types of questions whether it's comparing one pregnancy to another or just out of curiosity of what happened during those 9 months that sometimes seem like a blur. Of course, some moms don't need help with what to write, so they can just remove those pages if they would like. The Braelyn Bounty Bug Prego Planner retails for $38 and would be a great organizer for moms-to-be.
