Easy to Clean Modern High Chair Boon Flair High Chair Video

The Boon Flair High Chair is a modern high chair that won't disappoint you! Since you will be using a high chair 3 times a day and looking at it in your kitchen for 18-24 months each child, what high chair you pick is very important. Some new moms with their first baby may think all the chairs with characters, cartoons, or outright loud patterns are cute and will let everyone know that now they have a BABY! Believe us, once they walk in your house once your baby is born, or the 2nd or 3rd is born for that matter, they will know! All the toys, bouncy seats, swings, and every other baby product you have will let your guest know that your baby has arrived. For this reason, you don't have to have a high chair that is covered with ruffles, teddy bears, circus animals or the like. Remember the baby is sitting in it - not looking at it. Pick what is appealing to you to fit in with your kitchen.

Now, if modern and aesthetically appealing is what you like - the Boon Flair might just be the high chair for you! First, it's crazy fun to look at. It kind of reminds us of a Jetsons-type high chair. The Flair has a large roomy seat that sits on a pedestal similar to a barber's chair.

Boon Flair High Chair
Since meal time means messy time in our houses, one of our #1 features for a high chair is how it cleans and how quickly. Since our babies wipe mac and cheese in their hair, smear green beans up their arms and squeeze the juice out of mandarin oranges, if the chair has seams, creases, cracks, or crevices, we assure you that the food will find its way there every time! And since they eat at least 3 times a day (that's 1095 times a year), cleaning a hard-to-clean chair will get on your last nerve. That's why we LOVE the Flair! It is absolutely one of the easiest high chairs to clean we have ever seen. The people at Boon took mom's precious time into consideration and made a chair that has no seams, cracks, creases or crevices! Brilliant! The chair wipes clean in seconds. There is no more scrubbing, digging food out of the over-stuffed seat pad or trying to get food out of an unnecessary ruffle. There is a chemical resistant, waterproof seat pad that also wipes clean with no effort and is removable so that you can get around the edges.

The Flair has a small tray that is easy to get on and off. The tray was designed to be a two-handed tray but we have figured out that you can do it with one hand if you do each side separately. There are two plastic, dishwasher-safe tray covers that are included so that you always have a clean one on hand. Now, since there are three meals in a day, and most busy moms only run their dishwasher once a day, a third tray cover would be ideal, but they are so easy to clean we can't complain.

One thing we LOVE about the tray cover is that it attaches securely to the part of the tray closest to baby. What that means is that it's almost impossible for your baby to remove the tray cover and throw it either on the ground or at you. Believe us, there are so many high chairs on the market that include tray covers that are so easy for baby to remove, this is a wonderful feature! Now, we want to warn you that the tray is small. In the world of high chairs, maybe one of the smallest we have seen. Now, immediately you might think that is bad. But we have to disagree. We actually like the fact that the tray is small so that your baby learns to keep their mess contained similar to a plate. Bigger tray = bigger mess in our opinion. After having a small tray, when your toddler transitions to the family table, she will be used to having a small area to eat. Babies and toddlers don't eat a ton of food, so to us the tray size is perfect! Plus, a small tray means a very manageable tray cover that fits in your dishwasher almost like the size of a dinner place. It's fantastic!

There are two setting for the tray depth. If you have an extra large child, you might want to test them out in the seat before committing to this high chair as it may be a bit snug for extra chubby babies.

For safety, the Boon Flair has a t-bar that is permanently attached to the seat! Love it! Also, there is a 5-point harness to keep your baby in place. We found the harness a bit tricky to adjust and we don't think the shoulder straps tighten enough for a very small baby.

The seat sits on a pedestal that makes it very different than the usual a-frame high chairs. We found the pedestal much easier to clean than the usual 4 legs of a high chair. Also, the footprint of the chair is smaller than most full-size high chairs and allows you to push the chair up to your table with ease.

One of the features that make this high chair stand apart from the rest is the pneumatic lift. Now this special lift is how you adjust the height of the chair. We found this height adjustment not only fun but easy to do. To adjust the seat height, you press on the large orange button on the base with your foot, and raise the seat to your desired height. When you release the button, the seat is right where you want it to be. We didn't really know what to expect with this at first. With the seat empty, if you just press the orange button without holding on the seat, it will spring up to the highest position. To lower the seat, you simply press the orange button again and press down on the armrests.

Another really great feature is the six hidden urethane casters under the pedestal. Not only does it make moving this high chair a breeze but the casters do not scratch floors! Yeah!! After having our wood floors scratched countless times by the cheap, plastic casters on most high chairs, we love the Flair casters! At first, we didn't believe it. We have heard before that some high chairs don't scratch only to find horrible-can't-stop-looking-at-it scratches on our floors. So, we tested it. We started slow. We pushed the high chair across the floor while my husband laid on the floor on his stomach to assess the situation. We are happy to report - no scratches!!!!

So, it sounds like a great high chair! And it is! But what are the problems with it, you ask? Well, one of the minor problems that we found was that the seat does not recline. Yes, a reclining seat is great with a smaller baby that drinks a bottle in her chair or a sleepy baby that falls asleep during her lunch. So, unfortunately, the Flair doesn't have this feature, but because it's soooo easy to clean and looks so great, we think you can do without the recline. Also, there is a brake on the pedestal that locks the chair in place. This brake works great on carpet but not-so-good on hard wood floors. We found the brake doesn't lock the chair in place on wood floors so it is still able to move a bit. And finally, the high chair does not fold. For this high chair and its great features, there are minor issues.

The Boon Flair is a fabulous high chair that is not only aesthetically appealing but is the easiest high chair to clean! Not only do we love the high chair but we love the fact that Boon is a manufacturer that donates 10% of their profits to children's charities! How great is that! Not only are you getting a great high chair with the flair but you are helping children at the same time!
