As you head to the park, zoo or other outdoor haven, consider the following must-have accessories that make mom's life a little easier, drier, cleaner, sun resistant and bug free. Stroller Sun Shade While little baby legs can finally feel the fresh air, they can also be burned by the rays of the sun, even cool springtime sun. Also since babies under the age of 6 months are not supposed to wear sunscreen, shade is essential. Most strollers don't provide adequate protection built-in. If your little ones little legs are hanging out in the sunshine, invest in a good add-on stroller sunshade. Our favorite? Protect-a-Bub sunshades, invented in the sun capital of Australia, are the best we've ever tested. They are huge, have good ventilation, easily attach to almost any stroller, and even come with fun sparkly appliqués. Shop for Protect-a-Bub's Sunshades Waterproof Activity Mat Once you finally reach your outdoor destination, you'll need a nice waterproof play mat to plunk down on the grass. The best ones are durable, fold easily in on themselves, and are large enough for you and a gaggle of kids. Our favorite? JJ Cole's Essentials Mat is nice and big, but not too big. It's slightly padded, but not too padded. It's waterproof, easy to clean, and folds into a neat carrying case with handles. Best of all, it's pretty! So pretty, we actually can't wait to whip it out and sit on it. High praise for a ground cloth. Shop JJ Cole's Essentials Mat Portable Wipes Whether you're concerned about all the germs on the communal playground equipment or bug repellant, portable wipes provide protection in a travel-friendly container. Creams, sprays and giant tubs don't fare well in our stroller baskets. Keychain-sized or diaperbag-friendly portable wipes, however, do. Our favorites? CleanWell natural hand sanitizers have individual wipe packs as well that are completely alcohol free and leave hands soft to boot. And Teeny Towels are really teeny wipes, but their small size means we're never without them. They offer anti-bacterial and DEET-free insect repellant wipes. Most are lightweight, easy to throw in the bottom of a stroller, and have toddler-friendly lids. Our favorite? The Snack Trap keeps Cheerios at bay, but easily grabbed by our munching toddlers. Shop Snack Trap Toddler Tracker You probably don't need to go as far as investing in a GPS child locator device, but trust us, you can easily lose your child in a crowded park. There are several proximity alarms that you clip to your child and will alert you if they stray too far. Our favorite? The Giggle Bug Toddler Tracker is a cute ladybug design our kids don't mind wearing that we can activate by pushing a button on a small remote control. Peace of mind never looked so good!
