It’s official! After months of tabloid speculation, Prince William and his beautiful wife, Kate, have now confirmed that they are expecting their first baby! How wonderful!
And while we are wildly excited for William and Kate, we are also sending them good thoughts and prayers, as it is reported that Kate is suffering from hyperemesis gravidarum- a very severe type of vomiting associated with pregnancy. It is believed to affect approximately 2% of pregnancies and can lead to dehydration, weight loss, fainting, jaundice, low blood pressure, hallucinations, and many more debilitating symptoms. It can last throughout the entire the entire pregnancy (unlike morning sickness which is usually just within the first trimester), and the most common treatment is to have an IV inserted to restore hydration, electrolytes, vitamins, and nutrients. Kate is currently in a London hospital being treated.
Pregnancy is easy for some and extremely difficult for others, and we do hope that Kate feels better very soon so she can return home to enjoy the next few months. Congratulations to the royal family on their impending bundle of joy :)
