Since all I do is mainly write about fashion, it’s funny when someone asked me the other day what the back-to-school trends were for kids. Well, in a nut-shell…it’s everything that’s “in” for adults but shrunk-up into tiny, cuter packaging with less cleavage and legs to be shown — which is all a good thing in my book. For now we’ve gone beyond the days of our little girls and tweens wanting to dress like Hannah Montana with too short skirts and tube tops to more age appropriate clothing like animal print cardigans, ruffle skirts and color-blocked sweater dresses.
It’s so cute to see them get excited about their first day at school and have the first day outfit all laid out the night before so they’re ready-to-wear in the morning. What’s more fun is the shopping for the fashions — well, at least I get excited about it. I learned my lesson long ago that once they pass a certain age (usually about two) that they are adamant about what they will wear and not wear. I’m sure you’ve already experienced this too. So be wise this back-to-school season and either take them with you to do the shopping or let them sit with you as you browse about online for the best deals and steals while also getting the best looks!
